OS/2 WARP v4 does indeed work under VMware. After installation was complete this was no longer an issue. At the beginning of the installation, at the OS/2 boot blob, I had the best success if I hit ALT-F1 and disabled all hardware detection. There is no GUI option to select this, but it is valid. You'll want to change your VM type in your VMX file to "os2experimental".

I was locked at VGA until I installed the SciTech SNAP drivers, and while these drivers are pretty much abandonware, they still time out without a registration key after 30 days of use (I have a registration key somewhere from many years ago, but damned if I can find it). I haven't had an opportunity to fiddle with it further. I got and installed the correct audio drivers as well, and just like networking while it detects the virtual audio adapter, it just doesn't work.

I couldn't get the newer 32-bit TCP/IP stack update installed either - it seems to just get stuck in the middle of Feature Installer (one of the worst install platforms I've ever had the misfortune of using :P). They seem to auto-detect the wrong speed (10Base-T). I've applied the 32-bit MPTS updates, and found the correct network drivers, and while the drivers do detect the virtual adapter and do load, the just don't work. I have a newer WARP Server for e-Business CD here, but I couldn't get it to install without it TRAPing all over the place. OS/2 WARP v4 under Fusion isn't that difficult - I have a thread on doing just that in here somewhere. Under VMWare Fusion? Making changes to CONFIG.SYS was OS/2 Warp any chance you could help to get it running This is actually my first experience with BeOS, so I'm curious to play around with it). I don't blame VMware at all for not supporting these OS's, but it is fun to get them installed and working. (We should have a separate group somewhere for those of us who want to play around with alternative OS's under VMware. For the initil VM setup, I chose a 4GB IDE drive, and "Other, Other" as the OS type. I let the installer do its thing, and the system has booted up just fine.Īs you've already pointed out, networking doesn't seem to be functional (a problem I also had with my OS/2 WARP v4 VM). In my case, I used the FloppyIdeRepl.img diskette image to kick-start the installation process, along with the BeOS5PEMa圎ditionV4b1.iso image mounted as a virtual CD-ROM. It is completely unnecessary to burn any CD's - just allow VMware to attach directly to the ISO files you've downloaded. Your instructions make the installation process much more lengthy than necessary.
